Intel's Pentium® 4 Processor Teams with Moby

Innovative PC Technology Sponsors Top Artists for Area: One Music Festival

NEW YORK, April 23, 2001 -- Intel Corporation today announced that the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor will be the presenting sponsor of the Area: One Music Festival, a nationwide summer music tour headlined by Moby, a pioneer in the electronic music industry.

The tour will also feature several of the world's most innovative electronic musicians. At festival venues, Intel will present a digital music zone where concert goers can enjoy their favorite Area: One artists' music and videos using the power of Pentium 4 processor-based PCs and Intel peripherals.

"Our goal is to team with artists who push the boundaries of technology to create exciting new forms of music," said John Travis, director of Worldwide Consumer Promotions for Intel. "The Area: One Music Festival will be a unique showcase for the evolution of music and technology. These artists live out the same innovation and excitement that the Intel Pentium 4 processor brings to home computer users and music enthusiasts."

In addition to Moby, the current line up of artists includes Outkast, Incubus, New Order, the Roots and Nelly Furtado. Incubus will join Area: One for the East Coast shows, while New Order will join the tour's West Coast shows. Internationally renowned Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Rinocerose and local disc jockeys will perform at each venue's second-stage, providing a platform for some of the region's hottest, up-and-coming electronic artists.

The Area: One Music Festival is intended to provide a platform for talented artists and music that Moby believes do not receive "appropriate exposure." The tour will play in major amphitheatres and arenas as well as non-traditional outdoor venues across the country. The tour kicks off in Atlanta on July 11, and continues through the first week of August, making 17 appearances in major cities across North America before closing in Los Angeles on Aug. 5.

The Intel digital music zone will feature Intel Pentium 4 processor-based PCs and Intel PC peripherals that will allow concert goers to create their own music videos, mix music, and create and send e-mail postcards to friends and family using PC cameras such as the Intel® Pocket PC Camera. Visitors will also be able to sample tracks on audio players such as the Intel® Pocket ConcertO Audio Player. On-site sweepstakes will provide visitors with opportunities to win Intel PC peripherals.

In another tour-related program, Intel will run a range of in-store promotions at participating retailers. Music fans will be able to take advantage of special deals and win great prizes.

Intel's sponsorship of the Area: One Music Festival is part of its ongoing marketing sponsorship program. Previously, Intel teamed with The Dave Matthews Band during the band's 2000 U.S. tour, sponsored the New York Jazz Festival and was the presenting sponsor of the IMAX® Cyberworld 3D animation film.
