MERIDIAN, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2001--Starting today, Crucial.com, a leading factory-direct memory upgrade supplier and a division of Micron, is offering Micron's PC1600 double data rate (DDR) synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) memory module upgrades to end users. To demonstrate the price/performance advantage of this next-generation technology, Crucial is offering these PC1600 DDR SDRAM modules for the same price as current generation PC133 modules. Multiple chipsets and platforms are taking advantage of Micron's DDR SDRAM memory, and Crucial.com is making these DDR SDRAM modules, formerly provided only to system developers, available directly to end users.

``As computer equipment manufacturers offer more systems with DDR SDRAM, Crucial will proactively offer DDR SDRAM upgrades at a reasonable price,'' said Fred Waddel, General Manager of Crucial.com. ``This new technology offers significant price/performance benefits to PC users. Leveraging Micron's manufacturing efficiencies and Crucial's factory-direct business model enables us to provide DDR SDRAM upgrades at one of the best prices in the industry.''

``DDR SDRAM is emerging as the next-generation memory solution for computing applications and is gaining momentum in the networking and consumer markets,'' said Jeff Mailloux, Micron's Director of DRAM Marketing. ``Micron continues to meet the diverse needs of multiple market segments, giving our customers multiple choices from a single memory source.''

Crucial.com is the Web site of Crucial Technology, a division of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc. Crucial sells memory upgrade modules factory direct from Micron Technology, Inc., and offers over 49,000 upgrades for more than 10,000 desktops, notebooks, servers, routers, and printers.

Micron Technology, Inc., and its subsidiaries manufacture and market DRAMs, SRAMs, Flash memory, other semiconductor components, memory modules, and personal computer systems. Micron's common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol MU.
