notebooks, and Internet Appliances

Taipei, Taiwan, June 6, 2000 - VIA Technologies, Inc. today announced the

introduction of a new version of the VIA Cyrix* III processor running at

speeds ranging from 533MHz to 667MHz at Computex Taipei 2000. Featuring a

highly efficient Dynamic Power Caching Architecture, the new VIA Cyrix* III

processor delivers the optimum balance of high performance and low power

consumption for Value PCs, notebooks, and Internet Appliances, while

retaining the flexibility and upgradability afforded by full plug-in

compatibility with the Socket 370 interface.

levels of performance, the new VIA Cyrixr III processor enables our

customers to create an exciting new generation of Value PCs, ultra-light

notebooks, and innovative Internet Appliances," commented Wen Chi Chen,

ideal basis for desktop and mobile systems that deliver high-performance

business and personal computing, a rich graphical experience, and affordable

access to the Internet."

The new VIA Cyrixr III processor was designed by VIA's Centaur Technology

team located in Austin, Texas, and is manufactured using an advanced 0.18

micron process. With a die size of only 76mm2, the new VIA Cyrixr III

processor minimizes power consumption to less than 10 watts, making it an

ideal solution for fanless desktop designs as well as maximizing battery

life in mobile devices.

Available at speeds ranging from 533MHz to 667MHz, the new VIA Cyrixr III

processor also features a large and highly efficient 128KB Level 1 cache, a

high-speed 100MHz/133MHz Front Side Bus, and support for enhanced 3DNow!*

technology to deliver all the performance necessary for running a full range

of the latest Internet, office productivity, and home multimedia

applications.

Pricing and Availability

The VIA Cyrixr III processor is in production using a 0.18 micron, 6-layer

process. Prices for the VIA Cyrixr III processor range from $75 for the

533MHz version to US$160 for the 667MHz version in 1K quantities.
