Introducing Canadians to Blue Ray DVD this Season

www.pcstats.comWarner Home Entertainment, one of the world's largest producers of film and television entertainment, is releasing new titles of Blu-ray Discs just in time for the holidays, including the highly anticipated Dark Knight. Blu-ray is the newest-generation optical disc format that delivers the highest achievable picture and sound for home consumer electronics.

To help Canadians see the difference, Warner Home Entertainment is teaming up with Sony Canada for a national mall tour with booths demonstrating Blu-ray picture and sound quality. Customers can see the difference with regular DVD movies shown against the new Blu-ray format.

“Many Canadians have not had the opportunity to see the Blu-ray Disc difference – and you really have to see it to believe it. The tour is giving consumers that chance, and let’s just say the difference Blu them away,” says Dyan Eaton, Manager, Publicity, Warner Home Entertainment. “With the combination of affordable technology and outstanding titles, Blu-ray is the must have gift for movie-loving families or the cinema buff on your list.”

The Warner Home Entertainment mall tour will be in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Montréal from November 20th to December 21st. In addition to seeing the difference that Blu-ray technology makes, the booths are the only place consumers can see the Blu-ray Disc version of Dark Knight before its release on December 9th.

“Blu-ray technology allows movies to be heard with the same quality as is heard in the theatre and the actual Sony Studios where they are recorded,” says Eaton. “Blu-ray offers five times the amount of detail compared to standard-definition (SD), but today’s DVDs only support SD. If you want to enjoy your favorite titles to their fullest, you need to watch them on Blu-ray.”

Blu-ray Discs offer resolution six times higher than standard definition DVDs, as well as extraordinarily vibrant contrast and colour and beautifully crisp sound. The new formats also provide a higher level of interactivity, with instant access to extra features via a seamless menu bar where viewers can enjoy features without leaving or interrupting the film.

With operations in 90 international territories, Warner Home Video, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, commands the largest distribution infrastructure in the global video marketplace. Warner Home Entertainment's film library is the largest of any studio, offering top quality new and vintage titles from the repertoires of Warner Bros. Pictures, Turner Entertainment, Castle Rock Entertainment and HBO Home Entertainment.
