Patriot Extreme Performance and Dual Channel DDR2 4200+XBL Renamed

PDP today announced the Patriot’s Extreme Performance and Dual Channel DDR2 4200+XBL series are being renamed 5600+XBL. The exact part numbers affected are the Patriot products PEP25124200+XBL, PEP21G4200+XBL, PDC21G4200+XBLK, and PDC22G4200+XBLK.The change not only reflects several board level component and PCB revisions, but also helps align the product description to the performance derived from the memory solutions. “We felt the name change not only helped communicate the superior performance of our DDR2 +XBL line to the gaming/performance community, but was necessary to properly note the PCB revisions”, stated Garrett Rezzonico, Director of Marketing. He continued stating, “We could have added a revision to the end of the original 4200+XBL, but we felt changing the name would ultimately create less confusion”.

The new parts numbers replacing the 4200+XBL parts are PEP25125600+XBL, PEP21G5600+XBL, PDC21G5600+XBLK, and PDC22G5600+XBLK. The new modules will eventually ship with a black colored PCB (starting March 31st) heatshielded and backed by the same lifetime warranty of all Patriot memory solutions. Recently Tom’s Hardware Guide rated the DDR2 4200XBL’s as the “speediest DDR2 DIMMs by far”.  “The +XBL line is our most awarded solutions in the Patriot family”, commented Mr. Rezzonico, “the performance remains the same only the name has changed to reflect the upcoming new look and board level improvements.”
