A closer look at the 1000W PSU

The PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply is jet black in colour with no real "features." Again as mentioned earlier, the power supply is quite large so users of mid tower or smaller cases better make sure there is enough space for it.

The power supply is cooled with a single three blade 80mm Delta (BF0812EH) fan. There is also the connector for the AC power cord as well as a large hard power switch for the power supply. Missing is the 115/230V voltage selector but as we mentioned earlier, it is not necessary since the Turbo-Cool 1KW supports Active PFC.

PC Power & Cooling places a wire mesh around every cable that comes out of the power supply to the first connector. Wire mesh help keeps cables tidy and make cable management much easier. There is one 24 pin main ATX power connector, an eight pin ATX12V connector, two six pin PCI Express power connectors, eight molex connectors, six Serial ATA power connectors and one foppy drive connector.

The PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply also comes with a 24 to 20 pin connector for older motherboards as well as an eight pin ATX12V to four pin converter cable. The Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply is ESP12V compatible, so it can be used in real server situations. Cable lengths vary between 35-50 cm to the first connector.

With the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply, there are plenty of connectors to go around for whatever devices you might have. About the only thing I would have liked to see was another floppy drive connector... some of the enthusiast calibre motherboards require additional power via a floppy drive connector.

The PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply includes a set of internal potentiometers like previous models, but users cannot access them without voiding the power supply warranty. The four potentiometers are accessed behind a sticker on the left hand side of the power supply, pictured above.

Next, PCSTATS will crack the Turbo-Cool 1KW power supply open and take a look around inside.
