Using the YP-MT6Z

The Samsung YP-MT6Z player has its controls nicely arranged. The front LCD screen is white LED backlit when keys are pressed (though it looks blue here in the photos), and the joystick has a cool blue halo around it when being used. The joystick controls the Menu, and menu navigation, track advance, track fast forward, and the volume. Tap the joystick up and the volume is increased by a level.

By holding the joystick down you enter into the Mode feature which allows users to cycle through the music, FM radio, navigation, playlist or settings modes. The LCD screen has four lines of information, including the scrolling ID3 tag, next track name, battery live, number of songs remaining in the folder, and audio effects among others.

On the adjacent side of the Yepp YP-MT6Z are the microphone, record button, loop A-B button, and play/pause button. Turn the unit on requires you to just press the play button, and after about 4 seconds of the 'system booting' the player dives right into the first track in the list, or last one played.

The rear of the player is void of any controls, and simply lists model, capacity, and serial number information.

On the last side is the Hold button, which will prevent every other button from reacting whether the player is on or off.

To advance or reverse through the track listings shown on the LCD screen, or through any of the menu screens the joystick is used. It does look pretty neat when that blue back light circles around the key doesn't it?

To compensate for a variety of different headphone sound qualities, the player supports the standard array of jazz, classical, rock audio presets. It also offers up SRS, WOW, and Trubass - and a full 5-band equalizer.
