Overclocking, what once was a scorned hobby by underground computer users is now about as mainstream as you can get. Overclocking computers is big business that all the major computer companies take part in. For users, overclocking is still a quick and easy way to get more bang for your buck - take whatever computer you have right now, push it faster, reap the rewards without paying an extra cent! PCSTATS has been into overclocking since... well, the beginning. We've had the pleasure of watching the hobby and community grow over the years from the Celeron 300A and on up...

Whether you want to overclock you processor, motherboard, memory or videocard, PCSTATS has probably done it first and we're quite good at it. ;-) From simple air cooling overclocking set ups to liquid cooling, thermoelectric (TEC) and phase change - PCSTATS has overclocked a wide range of hardware with virtually every form of cooling available.

Planning on building a new overclocking PC, or perhaps juicing up an older computer rig? If so you're going to love what PCSTATS has in store for you!

At the end of most PCSTATS reviews you've seen our handy Maximum Overclocking Charts - a quick way to tell how well the gear ranks against similar hardware. In this document we've assembled every overclocking test result for every bit of computer gear PCSTATS has overclocked and put it all into one easy read.

While your mileage may vary, the overclocking results PCSTATS has seen should give you a good idea at what each bit of hardware is capable of. Heck if you have a high degree of skill, it's very likely that you'll be able to reach faster speeds than we were able to achieve. For review purposes PCSTATS, stays conservative when overclocking hardware.

If you're a novice to the overclocking scene, don't worry. PCSTATS has put together a couple of beginner guides to help you on your overclocking way. Even if you're an experienced overclocker, it's always a good refresher to see how someone else does it. If you want to learn how to overclock the processor or memory, check out the Beginners Guide: Overclocking the CPU, Motherboard and Memory . If videocards more your thing, we have that covered as well with the Beginners Guide: Overclocking the Videocard.

One final word of advice if you're really going to get into overclocking your computer; the components in your computer (CPU, videocard or motherboard, memory) can never run cool enough. Even if you're using an ECT Prometeia Mach II GT. ;-) Heck, at my height I had a 'Prommy' on the CPU and a Vapochill on the videocard and was still considered a light weight by the hardcore overclocking crowd!! You don't have to go as far as that, but plan your cooling equipment purchases in advance and you'll save in the long run. The level of cooling does affect how high you can overclock.

Let's start off with the maximum overclocking charts, first up are DDR3 and DDR2 memory modules!
