Crysis 1.2

Source: Electronic Arts

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX 10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista and Windows XP.

Crysis shows very promising results at 1920 X 1200 for the Gigabyte GV-R477DR5-512H-B in Crossfire with a second HD 4770 graphics card. The card keeps framerates faster than the Radeon HD 4890 and 4870X2, although it's still a little slower than a pair of Geforce GTS 250s in SLI mode. Most likely the Geforce cards will run into trouble once anti-aliasing is turned up later on.

Stalker Clear Sky

Source: GSC

Stalker: Clear Sky is a prequel to Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. The player assumes the role of Scar, a veteran Stalker mercenary who is rescued by Clear Sky, a faction looking to explore the ruins of the Chernobyl power plant and solve the mystery at the heart of the Zone. The Sun Shafts test is part of Stalker's benchmarking suite, which uses DirectX 10 graphics capabilites and can stress even the fastest videocards.

Stalker: Clear Sky is a new benchmark for us, and shows similar gains under Crossfire for the Geforce GV-R477D5. The amount of pixel shaders used in this benchmark puts a lot of strain on the RV740 GPU, particularly at higher resolutions. Under Crossfire the Radeon HD 4770s remain at the cusp of acceptable gameplay, although most users will likely want to turn a few settings down for higher frame rates.
